If you are a licensed professional engineer in the United States and have kept your NCEES record up to date, your NCEES record will suffice for experience reporting, references, and academic documentation. As a result, there would be no need to fill out the APEGS form with experience reports.

  • This information reflects your professional qualification.
  • You should always keep the following points in your mind:

  • You have well-developed skills, expertise, and ethics.
  • The process of obtaining a professional license went smoothly.

Geoscience reporting on work experience

Before beginning the experience reporting, make sure you’ve read over all of the standards and experience reporting standards. This will increase your chances of success and keep you away from rejection.

Before filling out the experience reporting forms, keep the following points in mind:

  • Always utilize the most recent version of the reporting form, and look for the data download link beneath each attachment.
  • Complete your report using the “Self-checklist” and “work experience reporting orientation presentation”.
  • For the experience reporting forms, Microsoft Word 2003 was used. As a result, before you open it, save it to your computer, close it, and then open it again. The document will open in Microsoft Word. The hyperlinks and other features should all work properly.

Responsibilities of mentors:

Supervisors and mentors play critical roles in the development of members-in-training as they work toward professional certification. They are in charge of checking the examples given, evaluating progress, and advising whether or not the member-in-training is ready for professional registration after 48 months of approved work experience. Only the most recent supervisor needs to remark and sign the report if there were multiple supervisors during the reporting period.

Signatures will have to be obtained if the most recent supervisor does not feel comfortable doing so all the supervisors and mentors will sign within the period of reporting. The Experience Review Committee acts as an examiner for the system, assessing work experience reports, ensuring that members-in-training are gaining relevant experience, and dealing with unusual circumstances. The Committee advises as needed and strives to ensure that members-in-training are getting ready to register as professionals.

Deadlines for submitting experience reports:

Each meeting of the Experience Review Committee receives reports two weeks in advance. The following are the deadlines for submitting experience reports for forthcoming committee meetings. It is strongly advised that you submit reports at least one week before the deadline. So way, if any problems with the report are identified before the deadline, they can be fixed before the deadline (all issues must be resolved before the report will go to the committee AND for CBA submissions, they must be fully validated by all Validators before the cutoff date shown – validation is the equivalent of a signature).

How to submit a complete experience report?

The instructions for sending a complete report of expertise are:

  1. The first option is to send your report through mail. Send the original, hard copy of the completed report by mail if possible. If the report does not arrive at our office, you should always save a copy.
  2. The second option is two scans the report and sends it to the official email address of APEGS. The scan must be of acceptable quality, with a file size of no more than 5 megabytes. Because we have to print and scan the report in small file size for sending to a secure file sharing site for Reviewers when we receive it, good quality is required.
  3. The third and last option is to send a fax. We don’t recommend faxing reports because the quality is frequently poor and difficult to see after they’ve been scanned again for reviewers. It’s better to use the first two options.

Tips for getting approval:

  • It’s a good idea to get some design work done while you’re ready to hire a designer.
  • Keeping track of all work, as well as planning and executing expert development exercises in a way that was conducive to creating relationships.
  • There is no necessity to learn Canadian work culture before applying for a collaborative design project. In the meanwhile, a variety of different involvement ways can be accepted.

Things to remember after submitting your report:

  • The APEGS assessment would take 1 to 3 months to receive, review, and complete.
  • You will be contacted in case of any problem.
  • We only send experience results by email, never over the call. Please do not contact APEGS for any type of experience-related information.
